Haley gains on Trump in New Hampshire ahead of Jan 23 Republican primary


With the Iowa Republican caucus now finished, the candidates' attention is turning to the next primary, which is a week away in New Hampshire. 

Donald Trump's resounding victory in Iowa puts him in a good position, but Nikki Haley's numbers are also looking strong.

US condemns Iran strikes in Iraq

The United States has condemned Iran for missile strikes in northern Iraq, calling them "reckless and imprecise."


Iran's Revolutionary Guards on Monday struck what they claimed were Israeli "spy headquarters" in Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region.


Four civilians were killed.

UN Rights Office maintains planned execution of an Alabama man may constitute torture

The United Nations office for Human Rights has warned that the first
planned execution of a prisoner by nitrogen gas asphyxiation this
month could violate international law.
Kenneth Smith was convicted for a murder-for-hire committed in 1988.
He is scheduled to be executed in Alabama later this month.

EU lists Hamas political leader as terrorist

The EU has added the political leader of Hamas to its terror list.

That means any funds Yahia Sinouar holds in EU member states has been frozen. And both individuals and businesses are banned from transacting with him.

Hamas itself is already listed as a terrorist group by the EU and US.

Voronezh declares a state of emergency after Ukrainian drone attacks

Consecration for controversial Indian temple begins ahead of Modi inauguration

Rituals to consecrate a Hindu temple in India have begun, a week ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the facility.

Mr Modu's party has for decades campaigned to build a temple on the site where a 16th century mosque once stood.

In 1992, a Hindu mob tore down the mosque, claiming it was built on the ruins of a temple dedicated to Hindu god Ram.

The demolition of the mosque sparked nationwide riots where thousands were killed.
