French president hails Jacques Delors, the 'father of Europe' at tribute to late politician

Emmanuel Macron has hailed the former head of the European Commission Jacques Delors, who many called 'the father of Europe', and who oversaw the introduction of the single market and the single currency.

Oscar Pistorius released on parole

Second leg of Indian opposition's Unite India March renamed

"Multiple" victims reported at US high school shooting

Police have responded to a shooting at a high school in the US state
of Iowa, where there are reports that multiple people have been shot.

America's top diplomat en route to Middle East for talks

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is headed to the Middle East for continued diplomatic discussions on the Israel-Gaza war. 


His trip to "a number" of countries, including Israel, comes as the Israeli army withdraws thousands of its troops from the Palestinian strip and shifts to lower-intensity military operations, following its ground offensive in the Hamas-run territory.   


But the conflict also shows signs of escalating to the wider region, with a suspected Israeli strike on a Hamas leader in Lebanon, twin Islamic State bombings in Iran, and with Iran-funded Houthi militants in Yemen attacking ships in the Red Sea.
