British court finds AI cannot be named as inventor for patent

A British court has ruled that artificial intelligence cannot be named as an inventor on a patent. An American computer scientist brought a lawsuit against the Intellectual Property Office after it rejected his application for AI to hold the rights to a patent for some of its creations. Julia Chapman reports.

Trump appeals to US Supreme Court to overturn Colorado ruling

Former US President Donald Trump is urging his supporters to "fight back" after the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that he is ineligible to seek the Presidency again.


Trump will now appeal that decision to the US Supreme Court.

Ukraine to Send 25,000 Tons of Grain to Nigeria

Ukraine says it is preparing to ship 25,000 tons of grain to Nigeria.

It is part of the Black Sea grain deal, an initiative setup last year to abate a global food crisis due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Zelensky: Military proposes to mobilize 500,000 more soldiers

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday, that the country's military leadership had proposed to mobilize an additional 500,000 people. In November Zelensky had asked his top general and defense minister to come up with a new mobilization plan, but in response to this proposal, he said there are key issues that need to be addressed before he can support it.

UK Inflation Rate Falls

Inflation in the UK has dropped to under 4% - the lowest it's been in more than two years.


A reduction in the price of petrol and diesel helped the rate of inflation slow to 3.9%, down from 4.6% a month earlier.


Slower price rises for many food items also helped bring down the headline figure, which peaked at 11% in 2022.

Torrential rains batter India's southeastern coast

At least 10 people have died as heavy rainfall has battered India's southern state of Tamil Nadu for more than four days now.

Entire towns have been submerged and thousands of people displaced.

UNSC holds briefing following North Korea missile launches

United Nations officials have called on North Korea to comply with international law after it launched ballistic missiles over the weekend.


At a briefing on Tuesday, members of the UN Security Council urged Pyongyang to commit to denuclearization.


But Russia and China criticised their fellow members for being 'one-sided'.

U.N Security Council delays Gaza vote again

The United Nations Security Council members are still negotiating a
new resolution on Gaza that is expected to be put to a vote on
Tuesday.
A draft resolution has been tabled by the United Arab Emirates calling
for a suspension of hostilities in Gaza to allow for the delivery of

Google to pay out more than one million U.S. customers over high app prices

US VP announces 'fight for reproductive freedoms' tour

US and EU suspend trade war over tariffs

The United States and the European Union will pause their ongoing trade war until after the Presidential election, it was announced on Tuesday.

Poll: Americans disapprove of Biden on Gaza
