called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
It says an immediate ceasefire in Gaza would 'only plant the seeds for
the next war'.

Michigan high school shooter sentenced to life with parole

The teenager who shot dead four classmates and injured seven others at
his high school in Michigan has been sentenced to life without the
chance of parole.

Russia’s Putin announced he’ll run for president in 2024, again

Russia's long-standing ruler Vladimir Putin has announced that he will run for the fifth Presidential term next year. State-funded polls indicate he's enjoying a wide public support, while state-run media is promoting a vision of Russia's inevitable victory in its geopolitical standoff with the West. The announcement comes as Russia's war with Ukraine casts a shadow over the possible outcome of the the next year's vote. U.S says it will not support calls for a ceasefire

The United States says it does not support calls for an immediate
ceasefire in Gaza.
Speaking at the Security Council on Friday, the US' Deputy Ambassador
to the UN, Robert Wood reiterated his country's stance that it'll
remain focussed on diplomacy geared at getting more hostages released
and more aid flowing into Gaza.
The Security Council is set to vote on Friday late afternoon on a
draft resolution tabled by the UAE, which calls for an immediate
ceasefire.
As a permanent member the US has a veto vote in the council.

Guterres: "The eyes of the world is watching"

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is set to spend the weekend trying to convince Conservative MPs to back new legislation on the government's Rwanda migration plan.

Chennai continues to deal with impact of Cyclone Michaung heavy rains
