Steve Bannon fights to avoid prison time over Jan 6th subpoena

Lawyers for Steve Bannon — senior adviser to Donald Trump during his Presidency — are in court in Washington DC today trying to overturn a prison sentence handed down to him for his refusal to cooperate with a subpoena. 

He was given four months behind bars for defying a request from the Congressional committee investigating the deadly January 6th attack on the US Capitol, during which a riotous mob stormed the heart of American democracy in a bid to overturn the 2020 election result.
