"We have to be ready for war" says German Defence Minister

Germany's Defence Minister has warned his country needs to be ready for war expanding into Europe. 

The warning follows concerns within NATO that Europe's largest economy is not spending enough on defence.

Bangladesh opposition leader arrested amid anti-government clashes

Bangladesh's main opposition leader has been arrested in Dhaka, following mass anti-government protests over the weekend.

Hundreds have been arrested in a police crackdown.

In the last one week alone, at least 3000 anti-government activists have been detained across the country, with critics accusing the Bangladeshi government of cracking down on dissent.

Friends actor Matthew Perry who played Chandler Bing found dead

Matthew Perry, one of the stars of the epic sitcom 'Friends' has been found dead at the age of 54, with the police saying no foul play was suspected.
He gained international fame playing Chandler Bing on the U.S. show for ten years – and had a public struggle with addiction.

Maine mass shooting manhunt continues

Police in Maine are continuing to search for a suspect who shot dead
18 people and injured 13 others.

Robert Card has been on the run since Wednesday night's shooting at a
restaurant and bowling alley in the city of Lewiston.

His cell phone and a note have been recovered, but police have not
revealed what was written in the note.

Police divers are also searching an area near to where his car was found.

Lewiston Police Chief David St. Pierre is asking the public to remain
patient as the investigation continues.

Maine manhunt continues -- mass shooting suspect on the loose

The search continues for a suspect alleged to have shot dead 18 people in the US state of Maine on Wednesday. 


In an update on Friday morning, police said they're working 24/7 to find Robert Card, aged 40, who they describe as "armed, dangerous" and at large. 


Hundreds of officers have since joined the manhunt in and around the small city of Lewiston.

Spanish commission estimates 200,000 victims of clergy abuse since 1940


An independent commission in Spain says more than 200,000 people could have been victims of sexual abuse by clergy in the last eight decades.
