US strikes Iran-backed targets in Syria

The US military has carried out airstrikes on Iranian-backed militant
groups in eastern Syria.

It follows recent drone and rocket attacks on American troops based in
Iraq and Syria.

UNGA set to vote on a draft resolution on the Middle East

Spanish commission estimates 200,000 victims of clergy abuse since 1940


An independent commission in Spain says more than 200,000 people could have been victims of sexual abuse by clergy in the last eight decades.

The commission was set up last year by the Spanish parliament after a high profile investigation by El Pais newspaper.

The first plane bringing Afghan refugees from Pakistan has landed in the UK, according to reports. 

Thousands of Afghans who worked with or for British authorities before the Taliban's takeover of the country, have been promised UK visas.

U.S.-China diplomacy continues as Wang meets Blinken

200 British Nationals Trapped in Gaza, UK Border Force Teams in Egypt to Help Evacuate Them

Roughly 200 British Nationals are known to be trapped in Gaza, currently under siege by Israel.  

The UK Prime Minister said that Border Force teams have been deployed to Egypt and are ready to help evacuate British citizens, when a pause in the fighting allows. 


The Government had previously confirmed that at least 12 British Nationals were killed in Hamas' attack on Israel and 5 remain missing and thought to be among the hostages held in Gaza.

Maine Governor: 18 killed, 13 injured in mass shooting

The Governor of the US state of Maine says a gunman killed 18 people
and injured another 13 in a rampage across several locations in the
city of Lewiston.

A manhunt is still underway to find Robert Card, who police describe

Manhunt underway after Maine mass shooting kills at least 16
