US chain Rite Aid files for bankruptcy

US retailer Rite Aid has filed for bankruptcy following falling sales and opioid-related lawsuits.


The pharmacy chain says it has obtained $3.45 billion in new financing as it carries out a restructuring plan.

Israel troop build-up intensifies amid growing humanitarian crisis

Israel continues to prepare for the next stage of its conflict against
Hamas, with troop build-up intensifying ahead of an expected ground
invasion of Gaza.

The UN says half a million people have now been displaced - after
Israel told civilians living in the northern part of the Gaza Strip to
evacuate.

Meanwhile the border between Egypt and Gaza remains closed, despite
international efforts to allow Palestinians to leave the territory
into the neighboring country.
