The Nobel Peace Prize has gone to activist Narges Mohammadi for what the Committee described as her, "fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all." She was selected to be this year's winner from 350 nominations. Stuart Smith reports from London.

Labour Look To General Election After Convincing Scottish By-Election Win

The Scottish Labour Party have convincingly won a by-election, that's being seen as a key test ahead of the UK general election.


They won the seat of Rutherglen and Hamilton West near Glasgow, with almost 60% of the vote.


Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer described the result as 'seismic'.


With more than double the votes of their closest rival, polling experts have expressed surprise at the margin of Labour's victory.

India confirms it wants Canada to reduce diplomatic staff presence

Amid an ongoing diplomatic row, India has confirmed it has asked Canada to reduce its diplomatic representation in the country.

Media reports earlier this week claimed New Delhi had told Ottawa it needs to repatriate 41 diplomats by October 10. Canada has 62 diplomats serving in India across four missions.

This follows allegations by Canada that India was 'potentially' involved in the killing of  Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June.

India has called the allegation 'absurd and motivated.

18 year old arrested for murder of well known NYC activist

New York police have arrested and charged 18 year old Brian Dowling
for the alleged murder of a well known activist.
