At least 14 people killed in floods in India's Sikkim

At least 14 people have died and more than 100 are missing amid floods due to heavy rain in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim.

The disaster has affected thousands of people, as roads and bridges have been washed away and homes have been damaged.

Parts of Southeast Asia Blanketed is Smog Due to Forest Fires

Several parts of southeast Asia are blanketed in smog caused by forest fires.

US charges and sanctions Chinese entities and individuals over fentanyl

The Biden administration has announced multiple indictments in Florida against China-based companies and their employees for allegedly manufacturing and selling the strong opioid drug, fentanyl and related chemicals.

US government forgives billions more in student debt

President Joe Biden has announced an additional $9 billion in student debt relief for 125,000 borrowers, after the US Supreme Court blocked his plan to scrap hundreds of billions of dollars of outstanding repayments.


It will bring the total approved debt cancellation by this administration to $127 billion for nearly 3.6 million Americans.

Second day of SBF trial underway in NYC

The trial against FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried continues in New York City.


Bankman-Fried faces seven criminal charges, including wire fraud and money laundering.


The 31-year-old is accused of using customers' money to fill holes in a hedge fund he set up, Alameda Research.

Largest ever healthcare workers strike underway

More than 75,000 unionized healthcare workers have walked off the job

The UK Prime Minister has proposed changing the minimum age people can buy cigarettes in England, in order to stop more people developing the habit.

Border controls in Central Europe

A deepening migration crisis in central Europe has prompted Slovakia's neighbors to impose border checks in a bid to stem the flow of illegal migrants.

The temporary measures by Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic will last for ten days. Slovakia is also reinstating border controls along its border with Hungary.

Investigation launched into fatal Venice bus crash


Authorities in Italy have launched an investigation into a bus crash near Venice that killed at least 21 people.
