China says claims of forced labour are an "enormous lie"

CUE: Beijing says it is an “enormous lie” to allege that it forces people from ethnic minorities in the west of China to work against their will. The comments came after Washington restricted imports from three Chinese companies that it said used such forced labour.

N Korea slams Japan over treated water discharge

North Korea is criticizing Japan over the release of contaminated, treated, nuclear wastewater into the Pacific Ocean. 

It comes after China placed a total ban on all Japanese seafood after Tokyo began discharging water used to cool the wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant last month.

India says it would look at specific information from Canada on Sikh separatist killing

India's foreign minister says that India is open to looking into any "specific" information that Canada could provide related to the killing of a Sikh separatist leader.

A diplomatic row has erupted between New Delhi and Ottawa after prime minister Justin Trudeau last week said there was credible intelligence potentially linking India to the murder.

U.S. Senate votes on stopgap funding measure, up to House lawmakers to agree

Members of U.S. Congress have put forward a short-term spending proposal to try and avoid a government shutdown.

Late on Tuesday, Senators voted on what's called a 'continuing resolution' which they could send to the House later this week, to vote on before a September 30th deadline.

Judge finds Trump liable for fraud

A judge in New York has found Donald Trump liable for fraud.

It's a major win for the state's Attorney General who has accused the
former president of manipulating the value of his assets for favorable
bank loans.

The case is expected to go to trial on October 2nd but Trump has sued
in an effort to have it delayed.

Guterres says nuclear weapons must be eliminated

The United Nations observed the International Day for the Total
Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, with Antonio Guterres saying the only
way to prevent the use of nuclear weapons is to eliminate them.
Guterres has called on member states to reinforce and recommit to the
nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation treaties.
The International Day has been observed annually at the UN since 2014.

Russian court dismisses dissident Alexey Navalny’s appeal

The Moscow Appeals Court rejected the appeal by the jailed opposition politician Alexei Navalny against conviction on extremism charges that added 19 more years to his current jail term. One of President Putin's most vocal critics, Navalny had dismissed accusations as groundless and designed to silence his criticism of the brutal regime. Since Navalny's arrest and imprisonment 2021 after a failed poisoning, which he blamed on the Kremlin, his political movement has been declared "extremist" and, in effect, eliminated. Biden backs autoworkers strike, trumping Trump in the process

Joe Biden will/has become the first sitting US president to join a picket line, turning up in Michigan on Tuesday to show solidarity with auto-workers on strike for the 12th day running. 


Thousands of members of the United Auto Workers union are taking part in unprecedented industrial action against America's three biggest carmakers -- Ford, General Motors and Stellantis -- walking out from some of their plants across the country in an escalating dispute over pay.

MACRON UNVEILS CLIMATE PLAN

16 People Freed After Kidnapping at Nigerian University

Authorities in Nigeria's Federal University of Gusua, Zamfara State say sixteen students and workers have been freed after they were kidnapped by gunmen last week.
