UN seeks to turbocharge SDGs

Members of the United Nations are convening to set the groundwork for
a summit it hopes can reinvigorate the multilateral system.

The goal is to create a transformative pact ahead of next year's UN
General Assembly.

Five People To Be Charged In The UK With Suspected Spying For Russia

Five people suspected of spying for Russia are to be charged in the UK, following authorisation by British prosecutors on Thursday.


All five suspects named are Bulgarian nationals, and are suspected of spying for almost 3 years by prosecutors. 


The Russian Embassy in the UK did not immediately comment.

Zimbabwe's president defends his re-election

Zimbabwe President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on Western countries
to withdraw what he calls, illegal economic sanctions against his
country.
Addressing the United Nations High Level General Assembly in New York
on Thursday, Mnangagwa said the sanctions were designed to subjugate
the sovereign will of Zimbabwe.
The Southern African leader has also defended his re-election as
president - this despite election observers from the regional Southern
African bloc of countries, SADC raising concerns, saying some aspects
of the election did not conform to democratic principles.

Biden gives 500,000 Venezuelan migrants temporary status

The Biden Administration is granting temporary legal status to hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan migrants already living in the US - allowing them to work while their cases are being processed. UK UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS FALL

For the first time in five years there's been a decrease in the number of 18-year olds accepted to university courses in the UK.

Around 5000 fewer students got onto courses compared to last year -- and there were 5000 fewer applications.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control Confirms 2,860 Cholera Cases, 84 deaths in Eight Months

White House says it is "deeply concerned" amid row between India and Canada

No change to interest rates in US, central bank announces

The US Federal Reserve has decided not to raise interest rates again on Wednesday, following a series of hikes that took the cost of borrowing to a 22-year high.

NYC daycare operator where child died from Fentanyl exposure, called husband before 911 per prosecutors

The operator of a New York City day care center where a 1-year-old boy after apparently being exposed to fentanyl tried to cover up her involvement in a drugs operation according to prosecutors.
