Philippine Court Acquits Maria Ressa in Tax Fraud Case


A court in the Philippines has acquitted Nobel laureate Maria Ressa and her media firm - Rappler - of tax evasion following a 10-month trial.

The cases were filed during the administration of former President Rogrigo Duterte.

Kim set to meet Putin “soon"

The Kremlin has confirmed that Russian president Vladimir Putin will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “in the coming days”. 

State media in North Korea has confirmed that Kim departed Pyongyang for Russia on a private train on Sunday.

US FDA approves new Covid booster shots

Americans may be able to receive a Covid-19 booster shot as early as this week after the US Food and Drug Administration approved updated versions of vaccines.


The shots from Pfizer and Moderna target the omicron variant XBB.1.5 but need a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before people can access them.

More displaced children in Sudan than anywhere in the world

Morocco earthquake death toll nears 2,500

The death toll from the earthquake in Morocco has now risen to almost
2,500 as rescuers continue to dig for survivors with their bare hands.

The remote mountainous area where the quake hit is making it hard for
heavy machinery to reach the worst-hit villages.

At least 26 killed in Nigeria Ferry Accident
