Former Nigeria Oil Minister Charged for Bribery in the UK

Police in the United Kingdom have charged Nigeria's ex-oil Minister, Diezani Alison Madueke with bribery offences.


The British cops say they suspect she had accepted bribes in return for awarding multi million pound oil and gas contracts while as Minister in Nigeria.

Zimbabwe Election Underway

Voting has started in Zimbabwe's second general elections since 2017. Approximately 6.6 million Zimbabweans have registered to vote in a population of more than 15 million.
This comes as Zimbabwe's government has come under sharp criticism for delaying the accreditation of foreign observers and journalists as well as a crackdown on prominent government critics.

17 workers killed in Mizoram in railway bridge collapse

Eight rescued from dangling cable car in Pakistan

Rescue teams in Pakistan have successfully pulled seven children and one man to safety. Their cable car was stranded high over a remote ravine for over 15 hours.
The high-risk operation in the northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was completed by the military and locals.

Japan preparing wastewater for release

Japan is monitoring and testing radioactive, treated wastewater for remaining isotopes ahead of releasing it into the Pacific Ocean from Thursday. 


The government and energy company TEPCO is set to begin a decades-long process to discharge more than a million tons of water used to cool the wrecked Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

FTX Founder Sam Banman-Fried faces new indictment

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has pleaded not guilty to fresh charges on Tuesday.


He faced a new indictment accusing him of fraud and conspiracy in a New York Federal Court.


Last year, Bankman-Fried was charged by the U.S. government of orchestrating one of the largest financial frauds in history.


Earlier this month the 31-year-old was sent to jail after a judge revoked his bail.

Indian Prime Minister Modi in South Africa for BRICS summit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a three-day visit to South Africa where he will attend the BRICS summit.
This is the first in-person BRICS meet since 2019 when the COVID pandemic hit.

Japan to begin discharging Fukushima water on Thursday

Japan is set to begin discharging radioactive, treated water from the wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean on Thursday. 

The government has planned the discharge for two years while accumulating more than a million tonnes of treated water, which has been stripped of most radionuclides in a special facility. 


However, the water will still contain traces of the isotope tritium and the project has drawn criticism from Japan’s neighbours China and South Korea.
