UN reiterates condemnation for Niger coup

The United Nations has again condemned last month's coup in Niger
warning it could negatively impact the wider region.

The World Body says it supports the West African regional bloc ECOWAS'
efforts to restore order.

Polls shows Biden & Trump tied

A new poll shows it's a dead heat between US President Joe Biden and
former president Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 contest.

The survey found 43 percent of registered voters would vote for Biden,
with the same figure favoring Trump.

Tree of Life Synagogue shooter could face death penalty

A jury is deliberating whether to impose the death penalty on the man who killed 11 worshippers at a US synagogue. 


Last month Robert Bowers was found guilty of all charges against him for the 2018 shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.


A unanimous vote is required to sentence Bowers to death, otherwise he faces life in prison without parole.

President Biden struggles to shrug off accusations of being involved in son's dealings

Pressure continues to mount on the Biden family after it was disclosed that the US President met with and spoke to his son Hunter's international business associates on a number of occasions over a decade. 


During nearly five hours of closed-door testimony, Devon Archer, Hunter's former business partner, told Congress that Joe Biden sat in on several phone calls as his son drummed up consulting deals. This was while his father was Vice-President.

Contact with Nasa probe lost

Nasa says it's lost contact with its Voyager 2 probe after giving it a
wrong command.

France starts evacuation flights from Niger

France is starting evacuation flights from Niger after the attacks on the French embassy in the capital, Niamey.

The flights will take French and other European citizens to safety following the coup in the West African country last week.

W.H.O to Deliver 1,800 Vials of Diphtheria Drug to Nigeria in August

The World Health Organisation says Nigeria will receive 1,800 vials of diphtheria antitoxin, a medication used in the treatment of diphtheria disease, on August 2.

UK House Prices Continue To Fall

House prices in the UK have recorded their biggest annual drop for 14 years.


New figures from the Nationwide Building Society show a 3.8% annual fall in July - the biggest since 2009.


The price of a typical home is now 4.5% below the August 2022 peak.


But despite the drop, house prices are still unaffordable for many people, with high interest rates also putting people off wanting to take out a mortgage.


Nationwide's Senior Economist Andrew Harvey said the problem is especially bad for those trying to get on the property ladder.
