Evacuations Continue From Greek Islands

Evacuations are continuing as tourists and locals try and escape wildfires on some Greek islands. 


It's believed almost 20 thousand people have been evacuated from Rhodes and a further two and half thousand from Corfu.


The majority of those who have had to flee are tourists, and there's been criticism that travel firms haven't been doing enough to help people or keep them informed of the latest developments.


Despite the evacuations, local officials are urging tourists not to cancel their trips.


Thousands of those affected are British tourists and some airlines are continuing to take holidaymakers to Rhodes. UK Foreign Office minister Andrew Mitchell has said that's a decision for the firms involved:

Nigeria arraigns 12 suspected oil thieves aboard Cameroon-bound vessel

The Nigerian government has arraigned 12 suspected oil thieves in connection with a Cameroon-bound vessel laden intercepted with 150 metric tonnes of stolen crude oil.

The vessel was intercepted on July 7th on Escravos sea in Delta state, south-south Nigeria.

On board were 11 Nigerians and one Ghanaian.

Russia Foils Ukrainian Drone Attack Inbox

The Russian Defense Ministry says it foiled a Ukrainian drone attack in central Moscow.

Officials say two drones hit non-residential buildings when they were jammed by electronic air defense.

Taiwan military drills to defend island from China

Second US submarine arrives in South Korea amid North Korea tensions

A second US submarine has arrived in South Korea, just days after the first US nuclear armed submarine in four decades was sent to a port in the country.

Little change on Wall Street but Dow hot streak continues

Biden brokers AI measures with US tech firms

Judge Considers Challenge to Texas Abortion Law

UN pleads with Russia to return to Grain Deal

The United Nations humanitarian chief, Martin Griffiths has appealed
to Russia to return to the Black Sea Grain deal.
Speaking at the Security Council on Friday, Griffiths together with
his colleague for Peacebuilding Affair, Rosemary DiCarlo stressed the
importance of the deal that has since put the lives of millions in

Trial date set in Trump documents case

A federal judge has set a trial date for the classified documents case against Donald Trump.


On Friday, US District Judge Aileen Cannon announced a two-week trial period would begin on May 20 next year.


The former President of the United States faces 37 counts surrounding allegations that he willfully retained national defence information.


Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Georgia officials plan Trop-related racketeering charges

Prosecutors in the U.S. state of Georgia are reportedly preparing
racketeering charges in connection to Donald Trump's attempts to
