Israel's President Isaac Herzog has told US lawmakers that "America is irreplaceable" to his country, praising what he calls the two nations' shared "values."
During an address to Congress, he said he recognised Israel's imperfections, but insisted it has "democracy in its DNA."

The mother of an American soldier being held in North Korea has appealed for her son to come home.
Claudine Gates told US network ABC News that she was "shocked" when Army officials told her on Tuesday that her son had fled.
Private Travis King crossed the border while on a tour of the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea.
Pyongyang has not commented on the incident so far.

South Africa’s official opposition party, the Democratic Alliance, wants to compel the government to execute an ICC arrest warrant if Russian President Vladimir Putin sets foot in the country.
