UNSG: Climate Change now out of control

United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres says climate change
is out of control.
Speaking to journalists at the UN Headquarters on Thursday, Guterres
called on countries to immediately reduce their carbon emissions,
saying delaying it any further will be catastrophic.
The Secretary General's comments come as the hottest global
temperature ever recorded occurred this week.
Experts as well as Guterres warn that the record could be broken
several more times this year.

Two eldest children of Silvio Berlusconi now jointly control former Italian PM's business empire


The late Silvio Berlusconi's two eldest children - Marina and Pier Silvio - now jointly control the family holding company Fininvest.

Berlusconi, a former Italian Prime Minister and business tycoon, died last month at the age of 86.

His will was made public on Thursday.

More than 10 million sign up to new social media app Threads

Social media platform, Twitter has a new rival in town.
Meta, the owners of Facebook and Instagram have launched Threads, a
social media platform similar to Twitter.

Meta-owned Threads not yet available in the EU

A new rival to Twitter won't be rolled out in the European Union just yet. Threads, a new app by Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, has already been launched in the United States and the UK, but European consumers will have to wait a while longer.

Child dies after car hits London school

Belarus leader says Wagner chief is still in Russia

The "Wagner" mercenaries' chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is still in Russia, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko claimed, despite the deal with the Kremlin for him to move the military group out of Russia. He said Wagner fighters have not yet relocated to Belarus. The Kremlin said it had "neither the ability nor the desire" to follow Mr Prigozhin's movements. European rocket- the Ariane 5- blasts off on final flight

The European rocket, Ariane 5, has blasted off on its final flight after nearly 30 years of service in space.

Taking off from the spaceport in French Guiana for its 117th and final flight, the final payload on Ariane 5 is a French military satellite and a German communications satellite.

WHO TO DISTRIBUTE 18 MILLION MALARIA VACCINES ACROSS AFRICA

The World Health Organisation has announced it will distribute millions of malaria vaccines to countries in Africa.

Janet Yellen heads to Beijing in a bid to fix ties with China

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will be in China for a four-day visit starting today.

US markets react to hints of interest rate hikes

More interest rate hikes should be expected in the United States, according to the US Federal Reserve. 


Minutes of a meeting, released on Wednesday, show officials at the central bank agreeing that further policy tightening lies ahead, albeit at a slower pace than the rapid increases in the past year.
