Public Hearings Begin In UK's COVID-19 Inquiry

The first public hearings are taking place today in the UK's COVID-19 inquiry.


It's been set up to 'examine the response to and impact of the pandemic and learn lessons for the future.'


Evidence is expected to be heard for at least 3 years. The first module of the enquiry will look at the UKs pandemic resilience and preparation, with as many as 70 witnesses expected to contribute.  


COVID-19 has been included on the death certificate of more than 225 thousand people in the UK.

Thousands of people in India's Gujarat being moved to safety as Cyclone Biparjoy approaches

Thousands of people are being evacuated from coastal areas of Gujarat, as Cyclone Biparjoy approaches the western Indian state.

Severe weather conditions have already caused at least three deaths.

The cyclone – which could bring winds gusting at up to 150 kilometres per hour - is expected to make landfall on Thursday between Gujarat and south Pakistan.

US plans to rejoin UNESCO
