Boris Johnson Quits As MP

Former UK prime minister Boris Johnson has stepped down as a member of parliament with immediate effect.

In an explosive resignation statement, he claimed he was being ‘forced out’ and was the victim of a ‘witch hunt’.

It’s in response to an inquiry about whether he intentionally misled Parliament over social gatherings that were held during the pandemic.

Mr Johnson claims the privileges committee is a 'kangaroo court' and hasn't found a 'shred of evidence' that he misled the Commons whilst he was the Conservative party leader.

But former Conservative MP Anna Soubry disagrees.
