Turkey's presidential candidates to face run-off vote

Turkey will hold a run-off presidential election after Sunday's vote failed to produce a conclusive winner.

With most of the votes counted, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received just shy of the 50% threshold for an outright victory.

The result has defied polling and expectations that Erdogan had lost political capital over a cost-of-living crisis and the government's handling of an earthquake in February.

Title 42 immigration restriction expires in US

An immigration restriction used to expel thousands of asylum seekers during the Covid-19 pandemic has come to an end in the United States.

Title 42 was brought in under former president Donald Trump to allow authorities to quickly turn away migrants attempting to enter the country's southern border.

In its place, the Biden administration has set out sweeping new rules, opening up some alternative routes for immigrants while bringing in regulations meant to deter illegal crossings.

Campaigners have already filed a legal challenge to the new asylum restrictions.
