George Santos in custody

Embattled Republican congressman George Santos has been arrested as
the Department of Justice unseals federal charges against him.
He is being charged with 13 counts of fraud and money laundering as
well as theft of public funds.
Following his election last year, the New York Times revealed that the
34 year old fabricated almost every aspect of his personal and
professional history.

Trump rails against sexual abuse verdict

Donald Trump has called the sexual abuse verdict against him a
travesty of justice and a disgrace.

Imran Khan in court as protests continue across Pakistan

US CONGRESSMAN GEORGE SANTOS CHARGED BY JUSTICE DEPARTMENT

US prosecutors have filed criminal charges against George Santos, the congressman who has admitted to lying about his resume.


According to news outlet CNN, the New York Representative is expected to appear as soon as Wednesday at a federal court.


The Republican congressman's attorney declined to comment.

No agreement on US debt ceiling

US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says there has been "no new movement"
towards agreeing a debt ceiling deal, following talks with President
Joe Biden.

The meeting at the White House comes ahead of a June 1st deadline,
when the US is expected to run out of money and be unable to pay its
debts.

The US Treasury has warned the country defaulting would trigger a
global economic "catastrophe".

Biden and McCarthy will meet again on Friday.

US on track for most mass killings in recent history

2023 is on track to be the worst in recent history for mass killings in the United States.


New data from the Mass Killing Database show there have been 22 mass killings this year, resulting in at least 115 deaths.


The database defines a mass killing as an event where four or more people, not including the perpetrator, are killed within a 24-hour window.


This comes after a gunman opened fire in a Texas shopping mall on Saturday, leaving at least eight people dead.

Imran Khan taken into custody in Islamabad
