US stocks down ahead of inflation data

US stocks ended lower Tuesday amid concerns over the debt ceiling and further rate hikes.


Eyes are on key inflation data due out on Wednesday which could determine what the Federal Reserve does next.

Two-thirds of Americans say the abortion drug at the centre of a legal dispute should remain on the market - according to a Washington Post ABC News poll.


The Supreme Court preserved access to mifepristone in April while the Biden administration appeals the decision of a lower court to suspend the Food and Drug Administration's 23-year-old approval for the drug.

US on track for most mass killings in recent history

2023 is on track to be the worst in recent history for mass killings in the United States.


New data from the Mass Killing Database show there have been 22 mass killings this year, resulting in at least 115 deaths.


The database defines a mass killing as an event where four or more people, not including the perpetrator, are killed within a 24-hour window.


This comes after a gunman opened fire in a Texas shopping mall on Saturday, leaving at least eight people dead.

Imran Khan taken into custody in Islamabad

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been arrested at the Islamabad High Court.

The arrest doesn't appear to be court sanctioned with the Chief Justice of the court asking the government to explain Mr Khan's sudden detention.

Curtailed Victory Day Parades Held In Russia

Military parades have been held to mark Victory Day in Russia.

The annual event celebrates victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two, and is used to showcase military might.

In a speech at the most important parade at Moscow's Red Square, Russian President Vladimir Putin again described Ukraine's leadership as being neo nazis, claimed a "real war is being waged against our motherland" and accused the West of wanting nothing else "but to see the fall of our country".

Gunmen in Nigeria Kidnap 40 Worshippers From Church

Russia launches wave of drone attacks on Ukrainian cities

Russia has launched its largest drone attack in many months on

Officials investigating Texas mass shooter motive

Federal officials are investigating whether a shooter who killed eight people in Texas was motivated by white supremacist ideology, according to media reports.
