COP 28 PRESIDENT PUSHES FOR MORE RENEWABLES FUNDING IN DEVELOPING WORLD

With just over six months to go until world leaders meet in Dubai for the 28th UN COP 
Climate Change conference - the host nation has called on wealthy countries to deliver more money to help the developing world fight global warming. 

Speaking at the Petersberg Climate Change Dialogue in Berlin, the United Arab Emirates COP President-Designate stressed the growing urgency around taking action on climate change.

Egypt Finally Opens Border to Nigerian Evacuees From Sudan

After four days of arriving at the Sudan-Egypt border, Nigerian evacuees fleeing the crisis in Sudan have now been granted access to Egypt for onward transfer to Nigeria.


The evacuees had been unable to get into Egypt due to logistics and diplomatic issues since last Thursday.

Uganda's Labor Minister Shot Dead By Bodyguard

Ugandan Police confirms State Minister for Labour Charles Okello Engola has been shot dead by his bodyguard at his home in Kyanja, outside the capital Kampala.

FIGHTING CONTINUES DESPITE EXTENDED SUDAN CEASEFIRE

Fighting has continued in Sudan despite the extension of a ceasefire between rival military factions.

UK Foreign secretary James Cleverly says it's "difficult to say" how much longer British personnel will remain in Sudan.

Two extra British repatriation flights have left the eastern city of Port Sudan in what's expected to be the final phase of the UK's airlift.

A Royal Navy warship will remain in the Red Sea.

The Foreign Secretary says the role of international powers in Sudan depends on the situation on the ground.

US to end Covid vaccine border rule for international travellers

The United States is scrapping its requirement for international travellers to prove they're vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to enter the country. 


The restrictions will be reversed next week, with the White House officially ending the public health emergency related to the coronavirus, declared more than three years ago.
