US prepared to support more banks if needed

The US Treasury Secretary says she's ready to provide more government
backing to prop up smaller banks in order to support the banking
system.

There are still fears the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and
Signature Bank could spread to other financial institutions.

Yellen: US banking system “sound”, but govt ready with further support

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says the US banking system is
"sound" following the collapse of two American institutions.

However, she said the government is ready to provide additional rescue
arrangements if other banks get into trouble, to prevent further
contagion.

Taiwan President to transit through US but no word on Speaker meeting

Taiwan says President Tsai Ing-wen will make two stops in the United States on her way to and from Central America but there was no word on whether a highly anticipated meeting with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will take place.


President Tsai will transit through New York and Los Angeles, leaving Taipei on March 29th.

US citizen released from Saudi prison

A US citizen has been released from a Saudi Arabian prison after being
convicted of trying to destabilise the country and of supporting and
funding terrorism.
Saad Ibrahim Almadi was sentenced to 16 years behind bars.
As Jody Jacobs reports, his family says all charges have now been dropped.

French president to speak to media on Wednesday amid pension reform crisis

The French president will be interviewed by France's two biggest TV channels on Wednesday amid the country's growing pension reform crisis.

Emmanuel Macron will lay out the next plans for the government after it narrowly survived collapsing in Monday's no-confidence votes. His options include possibly sacking the prime minister, or calling a snap election.

Preparations made for Trump’s possible arrest

Ted Lasso cast promote White House mental health strategy
