Memphis approves police reforms as DOJ announces review of city's police and nationwide look at specialised police units in wake of Tyre Nichols death
The US city of Memphis' council has approved a series of police reforms in the wake of the death of Tyre Nichols who was beaten by officers during a traffic stop in January.
It comes as the US Justice Department announced it will be reviewing Memphis Police's use-of-force and de-escalation policies, as well as the use of specialized police units around the country.
