Federal Reserve minutes show support for slower rate hikes

Most Federal Reserve officials supported slowing the pace of interest rate increases, according to minutes released on Wednesday.


But details from the central bank's latest meeting show policymakers believe more hikes will be necessary to get inflation under control.

U.S. $100M lawsuit against NYPD, FBI, CIA for evidence concealed in Malcom X's murder


Relatives of the civil rights leader Malcolm X who was assassinated in 1965 are filing a 'wrongful death' lawsuit for 100 million dollars against U.S. government agencies and the New York police department. 

They say the groups concealed evidence related to the civil rights leader's death.

UN Peacekeepers killed in Mali, five others injured.


At least three UN peacekeepers have been killed when their convoy was hit by a roadside bomb in Mali.

Georgia Trump election probe recommends multiple criminal perjury charges


A spokesperson for a Georgia jury investigating former President Donald Trump and allies' election interference says they recommended indictments of multiple people on a range of charges. 
A report, partially revealed last week, showed one or more witnesses lied under oath when they testified.

US Transportation Secretary promises to improve rail safety after Ohio derailment

The US Transportation Secretary will pursue new regulations to boost rail safety following a toxic gas spill in Ohio.


Earlier this month a train carrying a cocktail of chemicals derailed in the village of East Palestine (PALESTEEN).


Train operator Norfolk Southern then released and burnt the chemicals to avoid an explosion, sending a plume of black smoke into the air.


The company has committed millions of dollars of support for affected families.

Actress Jane Fonda wants the oceans protected

American actress Jane Fonda is calling on U.N member states to
finalise a world treaty meant to protect and preserve vast areas of
the oceans.
Fonda has been attending the negotiation at the U.N headquarters in
New York on Tuesday.
After more than 15 years of formal and informal talks, this is
supposed to be the final and conclusive round of treaty negotiations.
Fonda told reporters the responsibility lies with all countries in the
world to protect the oceans and leave something behind for future
generations.

Biden says US will not waver in Ukraine support

US President Joe Biden says that America's support for Ukraine will not waver.

In a major speech in Poland to mark this Friday's one year anniversary
of Russia's invasion, he said democracies worldwide had grown stronger
in the last 12 months.

It comes after the US leader made a surprise visit to Kyiv on Monday
to meet Ukrainian President Vlodimir Zeleskyy.
