Gains on Wall Street ahead of inflation report

It was a strong day of trading on Wall Street Wednesday as investors
eagerly await the release of some key inflation data.

December's consumer price index is due out Thursday and traders expect
to see price pressures beginning to ease.

WHO says China is underreporting COVID-19 deaths

The World Health Organisation says China is not providing enough data on the spread of COVID-19 to allow for adequate risk assessments.

Japan destroyer strikes rock, leaks oil

Japan’s coast guard is working on moving a Self Defense naval vessel which struck a rock and began leaking oil in Japanese waters on Tuesday.
