Nigeria Makes Biggest Ever Cocaine Seizure

The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have made what appears to be the biggest seizure of cocaine in the country's history.

 

The agency says about 1.8 tons of cocaine estimated to be worth more than $278m were discovered after it busted a warehouse in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

UGANDA DECLARES EBOLA OUTBREAK

Uganda's Health Ministry has confirmed an outbreak of Ebola in the central part of the country. The confirmed case is of a 24-year-old male who presented with Ebola Virus Disease symptoms and later died. Public Health officials in the country have been put on high alert.

TANZANIAN SHOT IN SOUTH AFRICA

A 22-year-old Tanzanian man  Ericky Ismael Ngobei is reported to have been killed in South Africa. The family that lives in Kigogo, Dar es Salaam revealed their relative was shot at night in crowded business premises after an argument with the attackers. A relative to the deceased said that the attack took place at around 11 pm but could not specify in which city.

IEA warns "collaboration gap" could delay net zero by decades

The International Energy Agency says a lack of collaboration on clean technology could delay progress toward net zero emissions targets by decades.


The agency on Tuesday released a report detailing progress in green transitions across the agriculture, power, transport, steel and hydrogen sectors, which researchers say account for 60% of greenhouse gas emissions. 


The report was requested by 45 world leaders at last year's COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.

Seven Million Nigerians Sue Country's Electoral Commission Over Failure to Allow Them Complete Voter Registration

Twenty four Nigerians are challenging the country's electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to allow them complete their voter registration exercise to enable them to vote.

They have filed a lawsuit which they say also covers seven million other citizens with the same complaint.

Intending voters in the country are expected to visit designated registration centres physically for their biometrics to be captured after registering online.
