Uganda Protests EU Motion on Oil Pipeline

Uganda has condemned a resolution by the European Union Parliament seeking to block the construction of the proposed East African Crude Oil Pipeline.

Leaders of China, Russia, India, Pakistan and others set to deepen ties at key summit

The leaders of China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and other Eurasian nations are gathered in Samarkand, Uzbekistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. 


After a much-anticipated bilateral meeting between President Putin and President Xi Jinping on Thursday, at which the Russian leader acknowledged China had "concerns" about Ukraine, the two leaders will hold separate talks with other counterparts on Friday.

American railroad strike averted by last-gasp deal

Major US railroads and unions have secured a deal to avert a rail shutdown that could have hit food and fuel supplies across the country.
