UK barristers walk out 'indefinitely' over pay dispute

Thousands of court cases across England and Wales are expected to grind to a halt as barristers walk out.


Members of the Criminal Bar Association will not return to work after voting in favour of an indefinite strike.


The ongoing industrial action over pay and legal aid has already seen widespread disruption, as our correspondent Sally Patterson reports from London.

EU FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSS RUSSIAN TOURIST VISA BAN

The first day of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers is getting underway in Prague. Under discussion: a potential short-term ban on issuing Russian tourist visas.

Nigerian court refuses extradition of Police Chief indicted in U.S.

A federal high court in Nigeria's capital Abuja, has rejected a request by the federal government to extradite a suspended police chief to the United States to face fraud charges.

 

Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police has been implicated in a case of money laundering, fraud and other crimes involving a Nigerian social media influencer Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi.

Dutch soldier dead after shooting in Indianapolis

One of three Dutch soldiers shot in the US city of Indianapolis over the weekend has died.

NASA cancels Moon rocket launch because of engine problem

The US space agency NASA has called off the launch of its largest and most powerful rocket ever after it suffered an engine leak. 


The unmanned Artemis 1 was set to travel to the moon on a weeks-long journey, kicking off a new phase of space exploration, with hopes that astronauts will be able return to the lunar surface by 2025.

Tanzania, Kenya to miss out on China debt relief plan

NASA test flight prepares to orbit the moon

NASA is returning to the moon for the first time in 50 years - since the 1972 Apollo mission.

US warships navigate Taiwan Strait amid rising tensions

Tensions continue to escalate in the Taiwan Strait as two US warships pass through the sea, in what Washington calls a "demonstration of freedom of navigation through international waters."
