Sharp gains for US markets ahead of Fed Chair speech at Jackson Hole

Uvalde School Police Chief fired - 3 months after Robb Elementary School massacre

The school police chief widely seen as the person in charge the day 19 students and two teachers were gunned down in an elementary school in Texas - has been fired - three months after the massacre took place.

The Uvalde School Board voted unanimously to terminate Pete Arredondo's employment at a meeting on Wednesday night.

California set to approve petrol vehicle ban

California regulators are set to approve a plan to ban the sale of gasoline-only powered vehicles by 2035 in a bid to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.


It is the only US state with the ability to set its own emissions rules.

Novak Djokovic out of US Open due to Covid rules

Former tennis world number one and 21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has confirmed he won't be travelling to New York for the US Open, which kicks-off on Monday.


The Serb was hoping to compete and win his fourth trophy at Flushing Meadows, but since October last year, the United States has banned entry for non-citizens who aren't vaccinated against Covid-19. 


Djokovic did not defend his Australian Open title in January because his vaccination status led to him being deported from the country.
