Nigeria's Military Says Boko Haram, ISWAP Planning Attacks on Nation's Capital, Five Other States

Nigeria's Military says members of terror group, Boko Haram & it's splinter faction, the Islamic State West Africa Province ISWAP have scaled up plots to attack Nigeria's capital & five other states in the country.

 

This comes after Sunday's attack on troops of the nation's armed forces which led to the death of at least two soldiers.

UK faces drought in August due to prolonged dry spells and hot weather

The UK is facing possible droughts in August with record temperature levels and prolonged dry spells across the nation.


A meeting was held on Tuesday between water authorities and from that, they have urged people not to use hosepipes and to be careful with their water usage through hot periods.


Authorities also said that people will soon start to see evidence of low water levels in areas of open water.


Baronness Jennifer Jones says private water companies are partly to blame for the low supply and that water should be renationalised.

S. Korea's SK Group announces $22 billion investment in US

South Korea's SK Group has announced an additional $22 billion in investments in the United States in a rare meeting with US President Joe Biden.

Trump, in Washington for first time since Presidency ended, hints he'll seek return to Oval Office

Donald Trump has offered the clearest indication yet that he's planning to declare his candidacy in the 2024 race for the American Presidency.


Appearing in Washington for the first time since he departed the city shortly before President Biden's inauguration, he addressed a right-wing conference hosted by the "American Policy Institute".

Uvalde school principal put on paid leave despite security lapses

Fears UK could be heading for drought

England has seen its driest start to the year since 1976, prompting concerns there could be a drought.


According to weather forecaster the Met Office, the period between January and June this year was the driest recorded in almost 50 years.


This comes a week after the UK saw its hottest ever temperature, with some areas reaching more than 40 degrees.

Report brands UK energy regulator 'negligent'

The UK's Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee has released a report in which it branded the energy regulator OFGEM 'negligent'.


The report recommended that the UK government changes its 'out of date' energy bill with the price of bills increasing for ordinary people across the country.


Ministers were also asked to consider getting rid of the energy price cap and replace it with a discounted social tariff for those most vulnerable.

Russia to withdraw from International Space Station in 2024

Russia has announced that it will pull out of involvement in the International Space Station in 2024 and proceed with a previous decision to build a space station of its own.
