Hong Kong seeks to solve shortage of affordable housing

The Hong Kong government says it’s planning for a ten-fold increase in the number of new homes that can be built in the territory next year. It’s hoping that’ll help to solve the lack of affordable housing in the city. But some analysts say it’s still not enough.

Texas sues Biden Administration over post-Roe emergency abortions

Texas has sued the Biden Administration over a federal law that requires doctors to provide emergency medical care to patients - including abortions.

At least eight states, including Texas, have banned abortions since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last month.

Italian president rejects PM Draghi's resignation

Italy's president has rejected Prime Minister Mario Draghi's offer of resignation.


Draghi said he would resign after a key coalition partner boycotted a confidence vote in the country's senate.

EUROZONE FORECAST: INFLATION UP, GROWTH DOWN

The European Commission has released its Summer economic forecast - warning the war in Ukraine is continuing to cast a long shadow over Europe's finances. Inflation is now expected to hit 7.6% this year in 2022 - up from May's forecast of 6.1%. Growth is slightly down at 2.6% but expected to fall to 1.4% next year.

Dozens unaccounted for following flooding in rural Virginia
