Sri Lankan President flees to Maldives ahead of resignation

Intro:

The outgoing Sri Lankan president has fled the country ahead of his resignation as protests against his government grow.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa arrived in the Maldives on Wednesday where he was received by senior government officials.

Many in Sri Lanka blame him for the crippling sovereign debt that's resulted in the country's worst economic crisis in the past seven decades.

Leaked video shows police confused and stalled outside Uvalde classroom as gunman attacks

Disturbing video of police responding to the Uvalde school massacre has been leaked to the media, as government officials in Texas quarrel over whether the full version should be released to the public.

The video shows police officers confused and stalled in a hallway outside the classrooms where 19 students and two teachers were killed in May.

The video was obtained by the Austin-American Statesman and TV station K-VUE. Both have posted edited versions.

Twitter sues Musk

Joe Biden to embark on trip to Middle East and Gulf

Joe Biden will visit the Middle East for the first time as US President tomorrow (Wednesday), with a trip to Israel, the Palestinian territories and Saudi Arabia, where he'll attend the Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council, a union of Saudi Arabia's neighbouring countries.

UK's opposition Labour Party consider tabling another vote of confidence to oust Boris Johnson from NO10 as soon as possible

Kuje Jail Attack: Nigeria’s security officials recapture 2 inmates

Nigerian security officials say they have recaptured two inmates who escaped during a jail break at the Kuje medium security custodial center in Abuja.

 

The inmates were among the over 800 inmates who had escaped the facility when Islamic State West Africa province ISWAP, bombed the facility on the 5th of July.
