The first Black woman, and first person with experience as a public defender, has been sworn in as an associate justice on the highest U.S. court.
Ketanji Brown Jackson joins the Supreme Court, after a series of high profile controversial rulings by a conservative majority.

US Supreme Court allows Biden to end 'Remain in Mexico' policy

The US Supreme Court has ruled that the Biden administration can end a
Trump era policy that meant asylum seekers had to remain in Mexico
while their claims were processed.

The White House had called the policy "inhumane" but had so far been
blocked by a federal judge from terminating the rule.

Former Trump White House Counsel Cipollone subpoenaed by Jan 6 House investigation

Former President Trump's White House Counsel, Pat Cipollone, has been issued with a subpoena to appear before the congressional committee investigating the January 6th insurrection at the US Capitol.


It comes after testimony from a former aide identified the lawyer as having first hand knowledge of potential criminal activity in the Trump White House.

14 migrants including Nigerians die as boat catches fire in Senegal

Death toll rises to 53 in migrant truck tragedy

The death toll in the migrant truck tragedy has now risen to 53 in what authorities say is the worst case of human smuggling in U.S. history.

The truck was abandoned down a remote road outside San Antonio, Texas on Monday in the sweltering heat.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the case.

North Korea accuses U.S. and allies of forming an 'Asian NATO'

North Korea is accusing the United States, South Korea and Japan of creating an "Asian version of NATO" with a "sinister aim."

Nigeria's Zamfara state Ratifies Death Penalty for Criminal Gangs
