India's daily Covid infections surge to four-month high

India's Covid-19 infections hit a four-month high on Friday, as the country reported 17,336 new cases in the past 24 hours.


The country is growing increasingly worried about a new wave of infections.

Australia – PM heads to Europe to meet leaders

North Korea calls for army to 'go all out'

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wrapped up a key military summit in Pyongyang this week by calling for a strengthening of the country's defence capabilities against so-called "hostile forces."

This comes amid concerns about a potential nuclear test that the country may be planning.

Leaders grant official EU candidate status for Ukraine, Moldova

Ukraine is one step closer to joining the European Union. All 27 EU leaders have given their backing to Kyiv's bid to become a candidate for membership of the bloc at a summit in Brussels.

It's been hailed as an important and historic moment for the war-torn country, but the road from Kyiv to Brussels may still be long and winding. EU leaders also offered candidate status to Moldova.

Afghan government appeals for more international aid after devastating quake


The Taliban government of Afghanistan is appealing for more international aid in response to Wednesday's earthquake in the south east of the country that killed at least a thousand people and injured fifteen hundred others.


Survivors say the region around the quake's epicenter has been devastated, with mud-and-brick houses collapsing in on themselves.
