Shootings in Washington DC as Congress stalls on gun control

America is waking up to news of yet another shooting, this time in Washington DC. A teenage boy was killed and three others including a police officer were injured on a busy intersection in the northwest of the city.

French government faces no-confidence vote after President Macron's party loses its majority

France's leading left-wing opposition alliance says it will formally call for a no-confidence vote in the government.


That news comes just one day after disastrous general election results for President Macron saw his party lose its majority in parliament.


The president's party came 44 seats short of an outright majority, causing a serious problem for Emmanuel Macron right at the start of his second term in office.
