Nigerian Govt. Orders Resumption Of Train Services Between Abuja & Kaduna

The Nigerian government has directed for train services to resume between the nation's capital Abuja and Kaduna state in the country's northwest on May 23rd.

 

Train services on the route were suspended in March this year after gunmen attacked a train, fatally shot at some passengers and kidnapped others, many of whom are still held hostage.

Poland relaxes border rules to help Ukraine export grain

Over 200 Ukrainian troops evacuated from Azovstal steelworks

Around 260 Ukrainian soldiers have been evacuated from the Azovstal Steel Plant in Mariupol.


Many of the evacuees are seriously injured and are being taken to Russian controlled areas for treatment.

Finnish president visits Sweden as both nations prepare NATO membership bids

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto is in Sweden for a state visit as the two Nordic countries prepare to submit their applications to join the NATO defensive alliance.

The UK's setting out legislation to over-ride parts of the Northern Ireland protocol.

North Korea COVID infections near 1.5 million

1.8 million tons of wheat stuck at Indian ports as Delhi imposes snap ban on exports

Motive for California Church Shooting

Authorities in Southern California say they now have found a motive for the deadly attack at an Orange County church on Sunday. 

One person died and five people were wounded in the attack.

Joe Biden commits troops to Somalia to fight terrorism

US President Joe Biden has authorised the deployment of hundreds of Special Operations forces inside Somalia, reversing a decision by his predecessor Donald Trump to withdraw nearly all 700 ground troops who'd been stationed in the east African country.


Mr Biden's also approved a Pentagon request to target about a dozen suspected leaders of Al-Shabab, the Somali terrorist group affiliated with Al-Qaeda.
