US markets preview

The US is bracing for new inflation figures due out this week.

It comes after the Federal Reserve announced the biggest rate hike for
22 years to try to curb rising prices.

Labour leader Keir Starmer to be investigated by police over 'beer gate'

Police are investigating whether UK Labour leader Keir Starmer broke lockdown rules on the campaign trail.


Durham Police previously found that no offence took place last April but new information has now come to light.

EBOLA CASES IN DRC

15 KILLED IN NIGERIA BOAT MISHAP

UK elections 'not the seismic change' Labour party want it to be says 'Tory MP

The results of the UK's local elections are being unveiled and it's not great news for the Conservative party.


In London, they've lost control of the councils in Wandsworth, Barnet and Westminister.


Wandsworth has been a Conservative seat for 44 years and is a huge loss for the party.


It's now under Labour control and is a real signifier of how some voters across the UK seem to have lost trust in the government's leadership over the partygate scandal and the rise in the cost of living.


Robert Jenrick is a conservative MP and says the results so far are disappointing, but not yet disastrous for his party.

Indian Government Commission Redraws Map of Kashmir Region

A government body in India has redrawn the map of electoral constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.

The new delimitation process will allow the conflicted zone to have assembly elections for the first time in four years.

Uganda's Refugee Response Severely Underfunded

Uganda has launched its three year refugee response plan but warns it may need to slash expenditures amid dwindling funds.

The UN refugee agencies in Uganda say their budget lines for 2022 - 2025 have gone down by 13% yet the numbers of refugees keep rising.

The UN needs about $800 million annually for the next three years to meet the critical needs of refugees.

Azovstal evacuations planned despite Russian shelling

$6.5B raised for Ukraine at international pledging conference in Warsaw

Republican governors in New England are speaking out in favor of abortion rights

WHO: true pandemic death toll nearly 15 million -- three times higher than official figure

Nearly 15 million people globally have died as a result of COVID-19, according to the World Health Organization. 


That's almost three times more than the number officially recorded, and 13% more deaths than normally expected over two years.
