Eurozone inflation reaches new record high

Inflation in the eurozone has reached a new record high, according to the European Union's statistics agency. 


High energy prices and the war in Ukraine are weighing heavily on the bloc's hopes of economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

OKTOBERFEST BACK ON AFTER 2 YEARS OF COVID CANCELLATIONS

The world's biggest beer festival has been given the greenlight to go ahead - after previously being cancelled because of Covid-19.

BRITISH VOLUNTEERS REPORTED CAPTURED IN UKRAINE

Two British volunteers have been captured by the Russian military in Ukraine according to an aid agency. The non-profit organisation 'Presidium Network' said the two men were detained on Monday and have called for assistance from the UK government. Laura Makin-Isherwood reports.

Around 8,000 British Army troops to be deployed across Europe

Around 8k British Army personnel are being deployed across Europe this Summer for a series of training exercises.


The deployment is being called the largest since the Cold War.

Russia hits Kiev with cruise missiles during UN Chief visit

Biden asks Congress for $33B in new aid for Ukraine

U.S. President Joe Biden is asking Congress to approve more than $30 billion in new funding of security, economic and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine.

He said it's necessary to help its forces defeat Russian attacks over the coming months, and is in addition to the $13.6 billion already approved in March.

The White House has also proposed liquidating the assets of Russian oligarchs to donate to the proceeds for Ukraine.
