Uganda Considers Deploying Troops to Mozambique

Intro

 

The government of Uganda says it will consider deploying troops to help fight insurgents in the oil rich Mozambique province of Cabo Delgado.

 

This follows a meeting between Uganda's President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique.

 

The Mozambican leader has been rallying the region for support in countering an insurgency that has left a trail of destruction in the northern part of the country.

The European Commission has described Russia's move to cut off gas supplies to EU members Poland and Bulgaria as blackmail.


Russia says the decision was taken because both countries refused to pay for gas in roubles, a demand widely viewed as a bid to mitigate the impact of sanctions imposed by Brussels over the war in Ukraine.

UK High Court rules government's decision to release covid-19 patients to care homes without testing was 'unlawful'

The UK's High Court has ruled that the government 'unlawfully' discharged covid-19 patients to care homes without testing.


Judges said that the government failed to take into account the risk to residents inside care homes from non-symptomatic transmissions.


Two women, both of who lost their fathers due to covid-19 in care homes, brought the case against the government.


They said the government failed to protect the elderly.


Prime Minister Boris Johnson commented on the ruling in the House of Commons after the ruling.

Vaccination Starts in DR Congo After Second Ebola Patient Dies
