EU says Moscow is blackmailing bloc by cutting gas supplies to members

The European Commission has described Russia's move to cut off gas supplies to EU members Poland and Bulgaria as blackmail.

Russia says the decision was taken because both countries refused to pay for gas in roubles, a demand widely viewed as a bid to mitigate the impact of sanctions imposed by Brussels over the war in Ukraine.

UK High Court rules government's decision to release covid-19 patients to care homes without testing was 'unlawful'

The UK's High Court has ruled that the government 'unlawfully' discharged covid-19 patients to care homes without testing.

Judges said that the government failed to take into account the risk to residents inside care homes from non-symptomatic transmissions.

Two women, both of who lost their fathers due to covid-19 in care homes, brought the case against the government.

They said the government failed to protect the elderly.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson commented on the ruling in the House of Commons after the ruling.
