French president Macron confirms he will stand for re-election

The French president has confirmed he will stand for re-election in April's presidential ballot.

The war in Ukraine had forced him to delay declaring - he waited until the last minute to submit the paperwork as Friday/4 March is the deadline for candidates to annonce.

First Batch Of Nigerian Evacuees From Ukraine Arrive Abuja


The first batch of Nigerians evacuated from Ukraine amid the invasion by Russia have arrived in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.

 

They touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 7am on Friday.

NATO, EU and G7 foreign ministers hold talks in Brussels amid war in Ukraine

NATO foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to discuss next steps as Russia's attacks on Ukraine continue.


Separate meetings between G7 foreign ministers then EU foreign ministers will follow.

UKRAINE POWER PLANT 'TAKEN BY RUSSIAN TROOPS'

Ukrainian authorities say the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has now been seized by Russian forces.

A fire at the plant was extinguished earlier, after Russian shelling.

Radiation levels at the site appear to remain within normal levels.

Japan government to release 7.5 million barrels of oil in bid to calm market

 A US jury has found a former Kentucky police officer not guilty of charges relating to the death of Breonna Taylor.

She was killed during a botched raid on her home in March 2020.

Jan 6 committee allege Trump broke the law & first defendant stands trial over attack
