US consumer spending increase top estimates for January

There was a sharp increase in consumer spending in the US in January.

It comes as the country is facing the worst inflation for forty years.

UK inflation hits 30-year-high for second month running


Inflation in the UK increased again in January, another blow for consumers struggling with rising prices for everything from food to energy bills.

The UK's Office for National Statistics said its Consumer Price Index hit 5.5% last month.

Biden: Russian invasion “still very much a possibility”
