Under fire from Ukraine, Biden moves to clean up remarks on "incursion"

President Biden has revised comments that he made during a White House press conference in which he suggested that a low-level Russian incursion into Ukrainian territory might not lead to punishing western economic sanctions.

Amid fury from Ukraine, the President now says ANY piercing of Ukraine's frontier will lead to a response.

Blinken vows "swift, severe" response to Russian invasion of Ukraine

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is vowing a "swift and severe" response to any Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He was speaking in Berlin, hours after President Biden at a White House press conference suggested that a low-level incursion by Russian forces might not incur a full-scale western response.

The White House moved quickly to suggest that the President's comments were misinterpreted, but today Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky said on Twitter that he wanted "to remind great nations that there are no minor incursions".

Meeting European allies in Berlin, Mr. Blinken renewed America's vow to lead a united international response to any Russian aggression.
