UK economy bouncing back from Covid -- but fears over cost of living crisis linger

Job vacancies in Britain have hit yet another record, as the economy emerges from the financially devastating Covid-19 pandemic. The number of posts available reached 1.25 million at the end of last year. 


Meanwhile, UK unemployment in the three months to November was 4.1% – that's just 0.1% higher than before the virus struck.

Two teenagers arrested in Britain in connection with Texas Synagogue attack

Two teenagers have been arrested in the British city of Manchester over the terror attack on a Texas synagogue over the weekend.


The gunman, British national Malik Faisal Akram, died at the end of an 11 hour standoff with police in the Dallas suburb of Colleyville….Greater Manchester Police say the teenagers were arrested in connection with the investigation.

UK Government to strengthen security services' ability to combat foreign political interference

The British government says new legislation is to be introduced to help the country's security services safeguard against foreign political interference.

 

The move came after MI5 unmasked a Chinese Communist Party agent named Christine Lee who infiltrated the British Parliament.

Efforts continue to reach volcano-ravaged Tonga

International efforts are continuing to reach Tonga after an undersea volcano erupted spewing ash more than 12 miles into the air.


The island chain has lost most communication with the outside world as a result of weekend eruptions that brought tsunami warnings across the Pacific.


Now, Australia and New Zealand are sending reconnaissance flights to assess the damage.

FBI identifies Texas Synagogue Hostage Suspect

The FBI says it was a British national who held four worshipers hostage at the Congregation Beth Israel synagogue in Texas on Saturday.

After a near 11-hour standoff, an elite FBI SWAT team stormed the building.

All of the hostages made it out alive and the suspect was killed.
