Hong Kong expands COVID-19 testing drive to prevent Omicron spread

The Hong Kong government is expanding its mass COVID-19 testing drive in a bid to prevent an outbreak of the Omicron variant. All residents of tower blocks where a new positive case is found are required to undergo mandatory testing.

US and Russia lower expectations for upcoming talks on Ukraine.

The US and Russia are preparing to engage in talks over the crisis in Ukraine - with both sides already downplaying prospects of a breakthrough.

Russia has stationed around 100 thousand troops at its border with Ukraine, leading to fears of a potential invasion, which Russia has denied.

19 dead including 9 children in Bronx apartment fire

At least 19 people have been killed in a fire that ripped through an apartment building in the Bronx.


The Mayor of New York says nine children are among the dead, and he's calling it one of the worst in the city's modern era.

Ahmaud Arbery killers get life in prison

Three white men convicted in the murder of 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery have been sentenced to life in prison, two of them without the possibility of parole.

Arbery - who was black - was gunned down while on a run in Georgia in 2020 - an incident that stirred fresh debate about racism in America.

Sidney Poitier, Hollywood's first black movie star has died

Sidney Poitier has died at the age of 94.
