Australia – Covid spreads further as infection rates continue to increase

With covid infections continuing to increase in New South Wales, there are no concerns for communities in the states far west, after a man travelled to Dubbo and Bathurst while infectious.


Nine more communities are now in lockdown, with many of the positive cases in the area amongst First Nations adults and children.

Hong Kong government dismisses concerns over population drop

The Hong Kong government is playing down worries over a public exodus. 

Official figures show almost 90 thousand people have left the city since the introduction of the controversial National Security Law a year ago. The government says there are many factors responsible, and the legislation is not to blame.

Covid-19 increasing among Tokyo's elderly

The number of COVID-19 cases among the elderly in Tokyo is rising as the spread of the delta variant outpaces the vaccine rollout. The country logged another record day on Thursday, confirming nearly 19,000 cases nationwide.

Biden makes no comment about Afghan U-turn as he returns to Delaware

President Biden has returned to his residence in Delaware after taking no questions on Thursday about his stunning U-turn on Afghanistan.


The President has ordered three thousand American troops to take up positions at Kabul Airport where they will facilitate the evacuation of at least some staff from the US Embassy in the city.


Another three and a half thousand troops will remain on standby in Kuwait.


The news came as the southern city of Kandahar fell to the Taliban….more than a dozen provincial capitals are now in their hands….with Kabul itself the remaining big prize.


News of the troop deployment was announced by State Department spokesman Ned Price, who tried to persuade skeptical reporters that the US still intends to engage in what he called an "enduring partnership" with the Afghan people.

BREAKING: 3000 US troops heading to Kabul Airport to begin evacuation of some US diplomatic staff


The US is sending three thousand American troops to Kabul Airport in Afghanistan where they will begin the process of evacuating some diplomats from the country's embassy in the Afghan capital.


The dramatic news was announced today by the State Department and the Pentagon.


Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austen spoke to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and co-ordinated the moves that will see the a reduction in America's diplomatic presence in the US by the end of this month.

Metropolitan Police Chief indicates fresh review of Prince Andrew allegations

The head of the Metropolitan Police, Cressida Dick, has indicated a further review will take place relating to claims made against Prince Andrew in a civil lawsuit by Virginia Giuffre.


She's seeking compensatory damages in a New York court, claiming the Duke of York sexually abused twenty years ago her when she was 17...in New York, the US Virgin Islands and London…claims the Duke denies.


The head of the Met was questioned about the issue in an interview with Nick Ferrari of Britain's LBC Radio.

Actress Una Stubbs dead at 84

The great Una Stubbs has died at the age of 84.


An iconic British actress, her appeal spanned the generations from her role as Aunt Sally in Worzel Gummidge back in the 1970s all the way through to her portrayal of Mrs Hudson alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in Sherlock.


She appeared in Eastenders and Fawlty Towers.


She had a glittering career on stage as well…and a love of sketching.

Shell Petroleum to Pay 111 Million Dollars Compensation to Nigerian Community Over Oil Spill

A community in Nigeria's oil rich state of Rivers is to be paid over 100 million dollars by multinational oil giant, Shell Petroleum Development Company.

Russia reports record Covid-19 daily deaths

A record number of people have died from Covid-19 in Russia, with over 800 in one day.

Official figures show the number of daily deaths has remained steady throughout July and August, but the number of cases of infection declining since mid-July.
