Landslide in the Himalayas kills at least thirteen

Sudan says it will hand former President Bashir over to ICC

Sudan says it will hand over its former president Omar al-Bashir to the International Criminal Court. 

He's accused of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur, a region of Western Sudan.

The White House says no outcome of the conflict in Afghanistan should be considered "inevitable", and Biden administration officials are again insisting that Afghan forces have both the training and the equipment needed to beat back the Taliban offensive in the country.


The Taliban now control nine separate provincial capitals, and intense combat is taking place for the northern stronghold of Mazar E Sharif and the southern city of Kandahar.

Canada calls for unconditional release of businessman sentenced to 11 years jail in China

Canada is calling for the unconditional release of businessman Michael Spavor from Chinese custody after he was sentenced to 11 years in jail by a court in the city of Dandong on Wednesday.


Mr. Spavor was convicted of espionage, and he's been in Chinese custody since 2018.


Canada maintains he's being held in retaliation for the arrest in Vancouver of a top executive with telecoms giant Huawei.

The White House says no outcome of the conflict in Afghanistan should be considered "inevitable", and Biden administration officials are again insisting that Afghan forces have both the training and the equipment needed to beat back the Taliban offensive in the country.

Reports in Washington indicate that US intelligence officials now believe that the capital Kabul may itself fall within the next 90 days.


But at the White House, press secretary Jen Psaki pushed back against those reports.

Afghan president flies to fourth largest city in helpless bid to stall Taliban advance

The Afghan government is scrambling to stall the Taliban’s seemingly-unstoppable military advance as one city after the other falls to militants.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has flown to the key city of Mazar-i-Sharif to try and rally military resistance to the Taliban.


US-led talks in Doha are continuing, with Washington threatening the Taliban with international isolation if they take the country by force.

UK 'SIGNS DEAL FOR SECOND COVID BOOSTER CAMPAIGN'

The UK has reportedly signed a £1bn deal for Pfizer covid-19 vaccine doses for 2022.

The 35 million doses would reportedly contribute to a second booster campaign to protect the UK population from the coronavirus next year.

A first booster campaign is due to be rolled out in Britain within weeks.

75% of the UK adult population has already had two doses of a covid-19 vaccine.
